there is a song "Rock You like a Hurricane" by The scorpions and it goes

It's early morning
The sun comes out
Last night was shaking
And pretty loud
My cat is purring
And scratches my skin
So what is wrong
With another sin
The bitch is hungry
She needs to tell
So give her inches
And feed her well
More days to come
New places to go
I've got to leave
It's time for a show

Here I am, rock you like a hurricane
Here I am, rock you like a hurricane

There's a song called "Third Eye" by a band called Tool. They performed a live version of it, with the following prelude :
"Think for yourself. Question authority. Throughout human history as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are or where we are going in this ocean of chance, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality.
To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open mindedness, chaotic, confused vulnerability to inform yourself."
The last line I find of utmost significance.

In my opinion, I'm much afraid of losing what I am just to get new opinions.

I know that having newer and maybe better perspectives are important, but we as humans are too afraid of change. I don't want to know beyond what I already know at the moment. It gives me insecurity which I don't like.
